It's been almost a year since our last one. So little activity that I wonder if anyone is still around. Doesn't anyone have anything they want to share or ask?
I left October's exercise post up for over a month, no one even looked so I took it down; I'm not going to maintain a forum that nobody uses.

Well Mike, I enjoyed it too, but I didn't post often enough. I'm just saying you weren't the only one who enjoyed the exercise board. I understand totally why it isn't there anymore.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving today. Had planned a great dinner but it turns out my energy level just isn't dependable, so I shoved a thawed turkey breast into the oven and we went out to eat today. No regrets as we both enjoyed the dinner and the day. We came home and watched the second half of Ken Burns "The Dust Bowl" and counted our blessings.
I was at my semiannual blood pressure check talking with my PCP and even though my BP is down to 138 would like to get it down in the lower 130's. Have noticed when exercising I have to use emergency inhaler at least twice and my heart races, not the best practice to someone trying to keep heart rate and BP down, so PCP recomended the montelukast. Have been on it for 6 weeks now, no longer need emergency inhaler for exercise....WOW, nasal airways not clogged in morning when I wake up and not affected near as much going out in the cold. This is a big improvement for me, have only used emergency inhaler once in 6 weeks, the only time I wake up in the night is to use bathroom, thats an improvement over waking up with mucus congestion. Have not felt any side effects, will stick with this med through winter and see what happens in spring. Would love to hear other experiences. Thanks Mike
Yes I have taken Montelukast for some time now, no it does not help me sleep , but my sleeping habits go back a number of years when I broke both my ankles, my days and nights got reversed and to some extent still are . I take Benadryl once in awhile to sleep and other times just tired enough to sleep or don't sleep.
I have thought about quitting the Montelukast its supposed to be for allergies. I liked reading the exercise forum I just had not got back to the point of doing some exercises.
I too am still around doing my daily exercise, once in a while my wife sticks her head in my shop and gives me encouragement. I really did enjoy the exercise board but seems like I was the only one, if I am wrong SAY SO. Still retired so the time is certainly not a problem. PS Has anybody ever tried the med Montelukast? My PCP asked me to try it to see if it helped with my sleep and reduce the amount of emergency inhaler I used during exercise and work outside in the cold. It has helped. Looking for any other experience or comment. Mike
Happy Thanksgiving to you too Sandy; and anyone else out there. We are having a small turkey; yellow turnips and white turnips; maybe mashed potatoes: green beans; stuffing and apple pie.
I took down the exercise forum because no one was posting. I am simply streamlining the site. The less there is the less I have to maintain. I may do the same with YTT. Asked Shirley about a month ago to start a conversation but no reply. I'll wait a bit longer.
As our dear friend would say........SK Later.........
That was the part I liked was the discussion, I was not exercising so I did not post however guess that was wrong, Happy Thanksgiving to all.. what are you having ? We are not having Turkey this year just Deli Chicken, dressing(stuffing) cranberry, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie...could have had sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes also, but just the two of us,, My husband is not crazy about just green beans , but he does like the casserole. He is doing most of the work as I am still not up to par. Guess I should started a new topic for this , oh well I won't or it might not get done.
It seems that exercise section is gone. Maybe he deleted it because no one was posting. I guess Mike just gave up trying to get people interested in joining in the daily reports. The links to different exercises were good though.
Thank you, Petra. My supplier doesn't have us on a schedule either. They don't come out at all unless we call them, in spite of the service techs saying they automatically come to check equipment every 6 months. I ended up calling the DME again & they're coming out Monday. I'll bet they give me 6 cannulas and a couple of hoses to last me another year. They are very stingy. Will have to discuss that with my pulmo at the next appointment.
ChiMin - you are correct. Once they accepted you as an oxygen patient, they have to serve you for 5 years. Some of their other equipment may require annual prescriptions, but not oxygen. Let the pulmo handle it. The DME ownS the equipment provided to you and they are required to inspect it annually in addition to providing all cannulas and hoses. I have to call my DME provider every year to request inspection and filter changes, since they don't seem to have their patients on a schedule !!!!
I don't know about medicare for equipment, I just have part A&B. I do know that with any other type of prescription, private insurance companies only allow one year per scrpit. I know others here are on medicare so I'm pretty sure someone will be able to answer that.

Sister Petra, yes oxygen would certainly help , I don't qualify for oxygen but thanks for suggestion.

The exercise links are still available via the "helpful links" tab.

Me to I;m here wheres the exercise I noticed it was not being used
Still here as well. Good to see that so many are.
Yes...still here. Not much to report....but I miss all and think of you often ~ Joyce
Thank you for all the information, everyone. I appreciate it.
Medicare does require that you have a doctor provide documentation of the need for oxygen every year though.
Petra is correct. They also need to supply you with all the cannulas you need, much more than 6 per year!
I change mine every week or two.

Thanks, Don. Yes, Medicare does function differently than private insurance, at least in regard to O2.
