Christmas Eve.... We have had weather in the 40's every day. That is saying something in Michigan for warm weather. Pedaled on the elliptical for 9 min this AM and went out and swept out the garage. Tomorrow my wife and I go out to the grand kids place for dinner and gifts. Hope you all have a good Christmas.. ho.. ho.. ho

Hey Don, Sit ups have always been my strong point but can't do in quantity any more. I did do another 9 min on the elliptical this AM. The Mrs is going ot to do shopping today so i have to go out in cold and clean driveway with blower, i just go slow in the cold weather.

Wow Don, you really have improved over the years, persistance does pay. I did 9 min on eliptical bike, 15 sit ups and 20 arm curls w/weights. During the last year I have added montelukast (singlair) to my meds , it does reduce the mucas build up over night so I sleep a little better.

Today I did 8 min on eliptical exerciser and 20 arm curls, this exercise stuff is getting harder with age, kinda normal me thinks

Sister Petra, yes oxygen would certainly help , I don't qualify for oxygen but thanks for suggestion. Mike

I was at my semiannual blood pressure check talking with my PCP and even though my BP is down to 138 would like to get it down in the lower 130's. Have noticed when exercising I have to use emergency inhaler at least twice and my heart races, not the best practice to someone trying to keep heart rate and BP down, so PCP recomended the montelukast. Have been on it for 6 weeks now, no longer need emergency inhaler for exercise....WOW, nasal airways not clogged in morning when I wake up and not affected near as much going out in the cold. This is a big improvement for me, have only used emergency inhaler once in 6 weeks, the only time I wake up in the night is to use bathroom, thats an improvement over waking up with mucus congestion. Have not felt any side effects, will stick with this med through winter and see what happens in spring. Would love to hear other experiences. Thanks Mike

I too am still around doing my daily exercise, once in a while my wife sticks her head in my shop and gives me encouragement. I really did enjoy the exercise board but seems like I was the only one, if I am wrong SAY SO. Still retired so the time is certainly not a problem. PS Has anybody ever tried the med Montelukast? My PCP asked me to try it to see if it helped with my sleep and reduce the amount of emergency inhaler I used during exercise and work outside in the cold. It has helped. Looking for any other experience or comment. Mike

I have been using an antihistamine for years in the spring, helps me sleep. Mike

As a retired electrical engineer I can tell you there is nothing in a POC that could possibly be a source of ignition. ie it is safe around gas fumes. You tolerating the fumes is another story you must decide. Good luck Mike

Temp was zero degrees when I got up this morning but the Mrs said she had to go out about noon. Thinking back to what my doc said about the cold.....I bundled up, including hood and very heavy gloves, opened my airways with inhaler and ventured outside to blow the snow out of driveway, 4inches. He warned me to keep my mouth shut and go slow so I could breath through my nose. When I was done I had a cold nose but was not SOB, I think my Doc knows what he is talking about. thought I would post as it turned out to be good advice for me. Mike

I receive a lot of junk phone calls that Usually get ignored but yesterday I got a call from one of the on line pharacy's claiming that ADC was closing. I actually went online and did the online chat ....it aint' so. ADC is still there and doing well thanks to all of us COPD'rs. Mike
