Don we all love each other dearly and at least we can choose our friends and ignore our family.and thanks to a falling tree we no longer have a landline and modern technology lets us push the block button. I really have no time for the selfish and the self righteous but I needed a break and if Muhammad was not going to the mountain the mountain was coming to Muhammad as the saying goes. I am back in my happy place and catching up on the rest I needed. Between the water problems and the load shedding even getting meals done was becoming stressful and on our own everybody just sometimes makes a sandwich when no power. My Sister has no load shedding as her house is on the same grid as where parliament sits when it is in Pretoria and a major hospital and they have no water problems to speak of at present. Our water was gone again for most of today but seems to be back and hopefully the weather report is right and temperature will drop about 12 degrees by tomorrow as it has been uncomfortably hot with 100% humidity. I will probably go back and work in the Library 2 mornings a month from next month which is something I liked to do and have really got out of contact with many acquaintances that passed through regularly. Was off duty with Ian's stroke and was just about to go back when my Mom had to be moved so it has been a long time and I would like to do a bit again while I still can as each year one seems to be able to do much less than the year before. I don't do any big shopping on my own anymore as I simply cannot lift heavy bags and we usually buy milk in bulk and freeze and that bag is heavy.
@Don Ian is fine other than being overweight - he made a good recovery but some of the damage is permanent especially with balance - he can no longer climb a ladder. Thankfully he sold the motorbike. It also makes you think as he said when recovering that you start to appreciate things you just took for granted as small as putting a cup down on a table as you had to think while doing it. Joz is no longer playing with the band but has someone who comes around once a week and they enjoy some music together. He played professionally for 50 years and enjoyed the odd gig now and again but really wasn't interested in doing it regularly. Getting a bit past carrying equipment and having to pack it back up in the wee hours and the others were not really seasoned musicians so at times he turned up to drown the mistakes. Get asked often when he is coming back and I just say retired but it was more frustrated and wasn't really enjoying it. Hope the family in Puerto Rica are managing although they still shaking but we are praying it comes to an end and they can rebuild. New Zealand has had a few shakes in the last few weeks but no damage although felt. The earth is definitely moving at present. Facebook has its uses one can stay out of the cesspool and I am very picky who I have on mine. We use it to follow with electricity and water problems. I do my fund raising for the Library selling the books on it. I popped a tire when I cut the sidewall on one so that was a bit of an expensive pothole. Had rained and when full of water and in the shade sometimes don't see them in time and 2 deep craters so close together I just didn't make the small gap between them. Can't have your eyes on the road all the time when you have a vehicle in front and behind. Our main road into town if you need to go to the shops on it and can't use the highway is a nightmare of potholes and leaking water pipes. Most repairs are so shoddy if they done don't last longer than 3 months before the hole is back bigger and better. We have had good rain so the rainwater tank is full so we count our blessings.
