Spring has sprung and the grass has ris.............. well the grass may be rising but Spring is lurking somewhere else. We have had some good rain but other than one or two days that have been nice and warm the socks have not been packed away yet. With the world being in a turmoil with wild weather we had our turn on Saturday when Irma's little cousin paid us a an unexpected visit and even the weathermen were napping. Was a lovely calm day when it started getting darker and darker from the South where no good weather arrives from and the wind got up and we had what I suppose qualifies as a tropical storm about half the wind speed of a hurricane as you would call it, a cyclone as we would call it and a typhoon if you lived in the East. Fortunately my trees are still standing although branches were ripped off the palms and and I had one roof tile broken from a flying branch which I have yet to discover where it came from. Doesn't look like any of my trees leaves. We are counting our blessings as there was huge damage all over with roof sheets flying, huge trees either totally uprooted or large branches ripped off. We lost our windbreak with the Bluegum plantation being cleared behind us so it is open for miles inland and we are on probably one of the highest points about a mile and a half as the crow flies from the ocean. As I have a few really big trees close to the house it would be a calamity if any of them toppled.
Roads have been once again closed several times with rioters and the water woes continue all over but it hasn't been our turn this time but others are on day 5 of no water and again it has been the Muslim Community that has been delivering free water to the old and sickly. Not much effort on the on the part of the Municipality to deliver although minimal supply by roving tankers have been doing the rounds they are hard to find and are often way up the road before anyone can stop them. Never know where they will pop up either as no schedule is ever given so it is lucky dip if you find them. But life goes on and I would rather have a few inconveniences than be in the path of a hurricane or an earthquake.
Hi Everybody - I emailed Laura (Cardinal) but I never got a reply. She was having computer blues so I hope she is OK. Hopefully she may post here.
Chi Min, thank you for the explanation. I used to have one of those, but my world is getting smaller every day...Cheers and best wishes. Hope you check in again soon. I shall be watching for you.
Joyce, RL = real life - sorry, I should have been more specific.
ChiMin, what is RL? I should know these things, but I don't.
Shirley, you are a good daughter to help your mother in her advancing years. It can't be easy with her dementia. Joe's mother is 90 and still lives alone but who knows how long she will be able to as she is nearly deaf and recently had another light stroke. She couldn't get the front door open this morning when he went to check on her and had to find a window to get through. He said there was nothing wrong with the door, she just couldn't get it open.
Sandy, are you still exercising? You know you are most welcome on the exercise forum too. Hope you are doing well. My biggest problem with exercise is sitting down in the morning to read the news. The longer I sit there the harder it is to get up and get moving. Doesn't matter what kind of exercise you do, just try and stay as active as possible.
Audrey, I am also having problems with being short of breath. Joe and I went to the courthouse to transfer some papers on a car and after climbing the stairs I couldn't even talk. That happened again this week just in conversation, I couldn't finish a sentence because I was so out of breath.
Was thinking of Laura and wondering how she is doing.
Don, hope you are well and thank you for keeping this forum going. We do appreciate you.
Sandy: Just deleting older reply's to save storage, will leave original post and most current reply's.
Joy: So good to hear from you, was going to email you, I may do that anyway.
To quote my dear friend and Brother.......SK Later......
Still here, girlfriends. Good to see everyone checking in. Joe here now so will pop back in later. Miss all the conversations we girls had over the years. Later...
Oh, I see Sandy just was here. Sandy, I don't feel that I accomplish much lately. Dealing with two elderly pets that take the wind out of my sails cleaning up after. Just can't bring myself to put them down.
Just a quick line before Don removes things, Joy posts on exercising , I never knew she was so much stronger if I could do 1/5 of what she does I would be happy. Will try to write more soon.
I guess you have your hands full taking care of your mom. Joy still pops in from time to time. I get sob just typing. I am at the no air no energy stage of this disease.
I'm still around, just don't have much to say I guess. Dealing with RL takes all the energy I have these days. Hope you all are doing well.
Please go ahead and delete Don all yesterday's news :-) Hi Audrey no just snowed under since I moved my 94 year old Mom with Dementia in as it was really the only viable option Although it does have its funny moments at times it is also physically and emotionally draining and in the last few months her mind has been going downhill at an alarming speed. Although she calls us by the right names she has no idea who we are and thinks she is living in a guest house. She has also had 3 falls fortunately no serious damage but I begin to sound like a broken down record on do you have your walking stick and do not walk on the tiles in your socks. Last night she went in the kitchen and turned the oven onto grill and cremated the dinner. If it is not suitable to take her out with us we now go singly as she cannot be left home alone. On top of it the lady I had coming in once a week to give a bit of a hand who I thought I would get to help out more often when my family comes out from New Zealand in January has a very unexpected pregnancy at 41 and the youngest of her children aged 14. The last thing I expected and most probably she expected as they were treating her for a 'stomach ulcer'. Does anybody know why Joy no longer posts and is she still OK?
Shirley: As you know better than I, with very limited bandwidth and storage, this site cannot support a lot of data, especially graphics. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to delete all the earlier reply's (not the original post) in order to speed up the upload/download process and also avoid all the scrolling. Please let me know if it's OK.
PS: I will reply to your email later. I thank you so much for your kind words.
Is there anybody out there or popping in here??????
