A lot of you know me on this forum, and I'm going to ask a stupid question. I have a trans-tracheal oxygen delivery worn underneath my clothes, instead of a nasal cannula. When I go out I use an Inogen portable oxygen concentrator. My g-son-in-law always gasses up my car for me. Is it safe to pump gas when you're wearing a poc?

Cardinal, what is the surgery like for a transtracheal delivery O2 delivery system like and is it covered by medicare also is it same day or maybe overnight in the hospital? Are you pleased with it?
Sounds ideal to me.

Thank you Mike. It's good to know that I'm not an unintenitonal IED.
As a retired electrical engineer I can tell you there is nothing in a POC that could possibly be a source of ignition. ie it is safe around gas fumes. You tolerating the fumes is another story you must decide. Good luck Mike
I refill when I need only half a tank. With my small car a half tank does not take long to fill, I can go 5-7 min without the oxygen while pumping even though I use it 24/7. At one time, I did leave the unit in the car and run the tube out the window while I pumped.. I suppose you could do the same even though it is TTO
I'm on oxygen 24/7, so I can't just leave it in the car. It's not the smell that troubles me so much. I fear that being so near gasoline with an electrical/battery type device could cause the gas to ignite. Am I just being overly cautious?
I leave mine in the car unless I'm having a bad air day. If I feel I have to have it while pumping, I always lock the gas nozzle and step away from the car until the pump clicks off. Probably not a good idea to breathe those fumes.
