I'm curious about what other people like to snack on. My favorites are chocolate chip cookies, pecan sandies from Keeblers, and for candy, I like Smarties, gummy worms and just about anything chocolate!
If cane sugar and salt killed you I should have been dead long ago. Anything that is labelled corn syrup stays on the shelf as apart from anything else it is also GMO. I don't even have my cholesterol checked as don't intend using statins. My Sister is on them and the side effects aren't worth the aggravation and I don't believe they are the answer. I don't, however, touch margerine and only use butter and I don't buy much in the way of processed foods. I used to like crisps but I think they have more flour in than potato these days and they don't agree with me so I leave them. The ever fresh bread also doesn't particularly agree with me unless I make Melba toast from it as dried out that seems to kill whatever causes a problem. My favourite snack is what we call biltong and you call beef jerky but it is made completely differently here and I have it cut into what they call 'BIble pages' which is paper thin. So if you have an international shop in your area try some good South African biltong. Unfortunately it has become very expensive with meat prices rising so a little has to go a long way now.
