I'm curious about what other people like to snack on. My favorites are chocolate chip cookies, pecan sandies from Keeblers, and for candy, I like Smarties, gummy worms and just about anything chocolate!
If cane sugar and salt killed you I should have been dead long ago. Anything that is labelled corn syrup stays on the shelf as apart from anything else it is also GMO. I don't even have my cholesterol checked as don't intend using statins. My Sister is on them and the side effects aren't worth the aggravation and I don't believe they are the answer. I don't, however, touch margerine and only use butter and I don't buy much in the way of processed foods. I used to like crisps but I think they have more flour in than potato these days and they don't agree with me so I leave them. The ever fresh bread also doesn't particularly agree with me unless I make Melba toast from it as dried out that seems to kill whatever causes a problem. My favourite snack is what we call biltong and you call beef jerky but it is made completely differently here and I have it cut into what they call 'BIble pages' which is paper thin. So if you have an international shop in your area try some good South African biltong. Unfortunately it has become very expensive with meat prices rising so a little has to go a long way now.
Mindy: Your breathing concentration must be great.
Maybe it's all in my head but I get panicky when I'm off my o2 and I see my sats go down. I try to do pursed lips breathing but after about a minute I just slow down to a rhythm that's comfortable for me. If you have some routine or secret let me know.
A couple years ago I was able to walk a couple hundred yards up a slight incline in our road on ambient air but now, I think about going down the driveway for the mail and I chicken out.
I have read on another forum where the question of becoming addicted to o2 came up. I think the consensus was no but I wonder.

Forgot to mention that I also have a perforated septum as well as a deviated septum. A lifetime of inhaling sawdust and lacquer thinner and paint thinner and coal dust and lead paint - NO! no cocaine!
I have never been to an ENT; I don't think this ol' body could stand another surgery.
Mindy: Does your DME think that COPD goes into remission? That would be nice.
My home-fill is an Invacare Perfecto2, you can buy a reconditioned one outright online for just under $400.00. (not the home-fill, just the concentrator) You can also buy reconditioned POCs for under $1,000.00. Although that's a lot of money you're not dependent on someone that's only concerned about their commission. I don't know what it cost you every month and I guess medicare covers it but in our condition, a little independence is pretty cool.
By the way, I forgot to mention before; along with all the stuff I got for $300.00 I got six m6 cylinders.
Fresh fruit is my favorite snack - berries and bananas in particular. Apples are good if dipped in peanut butter. lol Also like to snack on dairy: cottage cheese, ice cream and yogurt. Really like Chex Mix too, but the salt gets to me - headaches and heart palp - so I try to stay away from the salt.
I have high cholesterol; high blood pressure; had a couple heart attacks; got two stents in my RCA. For me, snacks are pretty much raisins and unsalted nuts.
Oh no!! I hope there are some alternative snacks you can eat. Just curious, do you just avoid sugar because it's not good for us or is it health related?
Love pecan pie - love Key lime pie - love Reese's peanut butter cups - love Peter Paul Mounds and Almond Joy - - - - However; if I ate what I love they would carry me out of here in a meat wagon. Can't eat any of it.
